Historical Background of Carl Larsson
Born on May 28, 1853, in Stockholm, Carl Larsson overcame a poor childhood to enter the Royal Academy of the Arts at age 13. After working as an illustrator, he moved to Paris and met his wife, Karin Bergoo. Karin inspired his transition into watercolor, and their family—including eight children—became his primary models.
