Three Ways to Add More Style to Your Home
You do not need new furniture and you do not need to read a book about feng shui. Three small changes will do more for a room than one large purchase, and all three are inexpensive.
Pick a Statement Piece
A statement piece is the one thing in a room that people notice first. Put it where you actually spend time — the living room, the dining table, the kitchen counter — rather than in a hallway nobody stops in. You will find pieces that carry a room in our home decor section, from linens and runners to the accessories that finish a shelf.
Add Some Colour
Most of us settle into a palette and stop there — whites, greys, a little blue. Nordic design has never been as colourless as its reputation suggests, and a single warm red, deep green or clear yellow against a pale room does more work than a whole new scheme. Incorporate Little Trinkets Here and There
The smallest things individualise a home fastest. A few candles and candle holders on the mantel, something wooden on the kitchen windowsill, a shelf of pupunen animals and other small carved figures. None of it costs much and all of it adds warmth — which, in a part of the world with long dark winters, was rather the point to begin with.
